Info
Tip: A clean update process is extremely important, especially for productive automations!

Check n8n for new version

  1. Log in to your n8n instance.
  2. Click on the bottom left on Help and then on About n8n.
  3. In the pop-up you will find your currently installed n8n version.

  4. Compare this version with the latest one published in the official n8n Release Notes.

Alert
The section How to update n8n in the n8n Docs is irrelevant for you. In the next step, we show you the comfortable update process via the HF3 Hosting Control Panel.

Install new n8n version

You can conveniently trigger the update in the HF3 Hosting Control Panel.
Warning
Attention: Make sure all important changes in your workflows are saved – running automations will pause briefly during the update!

How it works:

  1. Log in with the received access data in the HF3 Hosting Control Panel.
  2. Select Containers in the left menu bar and click on Settings.

  3. Click on Download Updates.
  4. The base image of all containers is downloaded and installed. Supabase and Open WebUI are fixed to a stable version. Updates with real benefits (improvements and bug fixes) are only installed manually in prior consultation with you. n8n is set to n8n:latest, where always the latest version is installed. Beta versions are deliberately ignored.

The update takes a few minutes and is complete as soon as the loading disappears and the container overview is reloaded.
  5. To complete the update, the containers must be restarted. Click the ⏹ DOWN button at the top, wait until all containers are no longer listed, and then click the ▶ UP button. Of course, the affected containers can also be stopped and restarted individually.

InfoIf after the restart individual containers show the Start Button, you must start them manually. Simply click ▶ Start to do so.

  6. Log in again to your n8n instance or reload the page.

Check version after update

  1. To ensure the update was successful, click again in n8n on Help and then on About n8n.
  2. A latest version should now be displayed.
