Accordion test with card

Accordion element card 1
In everyday life, according to the tenor of the comments, one often has to justify oneself when taking a break or pausing, for example due to overload or burnout. One is quickly considered "lazy" or has to explain why one can no longer. An injury, on the other hand, is clear: visible, medically documented, and socially accepted. One "can't do anything" – and that is exactly what is accepted without discussion.

Now the woman herself speaks out. A. F.* (34) says to 20 Minuten: "I did not expect my post to cause so much sensation. It seems to strike a nerve." We live in a society "where performance is so important that we are ashamed if we do not deliver." She herself does not do that, "and that makes people angry," she says to those who criticized her view.

As a single mother working 80 percent, Anja (37) repeatedly caught herself and "one morning considered dropping something heavy on my foot." To avoid working and having to justify herself or being labeled a "work refuser": "Out of shame for my children, I never acted on the thought."

Test addition
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has admitted the defeat of his right-wing nationalist Fidesz party in the parliamentary election. The defeat was "painful," Orban said on Sunday evening. Earlier, his challenger Peter Magyar had already stated that Orban called him and congratulated him on the election victory.

The 32-year-old Mara actually injured herself. For her, it was not overload but shame. She "proudly announced" to her clients that she would be among the top three in Switzerland in the final apprenticeship exam. When she "missed this goal by 0.5 points," she did not want to admit it to her customers and employees – and therefore injured herself so she wouldn't have to show up at work: "I slammed the refrigerator door with full force on my hand during work," she says.

At the hospital, she initially did not expect that the hand was actually broken. When she received the diagnosis, she "immediately was happy to be out for six weeks. That way, no one needed an explanation from me."

Such thoughts are especially widespread in nursing, reports former employee A. H.* (34): "Several colleagues wanted to intentionally injure themselves," he says.

It went so far that, as a personnel manager, he was tasked with preventing such absences. "How sick is that? I can't tell my employees not to hurt themselves." Today he works in an office, where it is almost impossible to really be absent: "Both legs broken? There's still a wheelchair, you can still sit at the desk."

Aniko (38) also describes the desire for a break due to two small children and overload in everyday life: "It is very embarrassing for me to admit, but I often long for a longer hospital stay." During an overnight stay in the hospital for an operation, she "enjoyed every minute."

Above all, being alone and "not having to do anything for others." Another operation is upcoming – "and I have to say, I can hardly wait."

Oliver (31) says it most clearly: "I constantly wish to be hit by a car." It has even almost happened before.

It is important to him that no permanent damage occurs. "But enough for me to have a few months of peace." Self-harm is out of the question for him. "The conscience does not allow it."

Barbara (58) strongly warns against such fantasies and points to the possible consequences. After a medical error, she "still lives with paralysis and nerve pain one and a half years later." Her conclusion: "Anyone who has such fantasies should urgently seek an appointment with a psychologist."

Regina (49) also views the phenomenon critically – even though she can understand it. She used to have such thoughts, but today she feels mentally better at work. Therefore, it is "a disgrace to our society" that such wishes even arise.
